Joint Sprains
Accidents, falls, sporting activities and sudden twisting or repetitive movements are all causes of joint sprains that can result in torn ligaments, pain, swelling, difficulty moving the joint and even issues with weight bearing. Joints such as the ankle, shoulder, knee, wrist and even the synovial joints between the vertebrae can all suffer from sprains. A sprained joint can significantly decrease your quality of life and your ability to work and care for your family.
BeFit Training Physios help to rehabilitate your joint sprain
Following a thorough assessment of your injury, we will identify the cause and design a treatment plan to help relieve your pain and aid your recovery. Some of the therapies that may be included in your treatment plan include ice, rest and elevation of the limb (if possible) to help reduce the initial pain and swelling. For an AC shoulder joint sprain, we may use a sling or brace to support the joint, as well as heat and ultrasound. Vertebrae sprains often require manual therapy to loosen the joint, as well as heat, stretching and strengthening exercises. Other joint sprains may also benefit from one or more of these therapies.
