Jaw Pain
Jaw pain, also known as TMJ (temporomandibular joint pain) can be some of the most excruciating pain you have ever experienced. It literally stops you in your tracks and makes you incapable of moving until the pain has waned.
TMJ pain has a variety of causes, such as previous injuries, dental treatments, sinus infections and dental disease. However, aside from the pain, you might also experience clicking, grating or a popping in your jaw, as well as difficulty opening or closing your mouth. Ear ache, dental pain, face and eye pain, and of course, severe headaches are all symptoms of TMJ.
BeFit Training Physios helps to relieve your TMJ pain
Following a thorough assessment of your TMJ pain, we will identify its cause and design a treatment plan aimed at reducing your immediate pain and helping your recovery. Depending on the cause of your TMJ, your treatment plan may include a referral to another healthcare professional, such as a dentist or orthodontist.
Physiotherapy is very effective at providing managing and relieving TMJ pain and most patients experience significant respite within 3 to 6 weeks. Your treatment may include postural stretching and exercises, relaxation techniques, jaw muscle massage and joint mobilisation or stabilisation.
