<strong><em>01</em></strong> What is LIMIT?
LIMIT stands for Low Impact Method Interval Training. In every class we address movement patterns, such as lifting, walking or pulling, core strength, and cardiovascular conditioning. Because of the small group environment we are able to adjust the exercises to accommodate those recovering post-surgery, with low back pain, neck pain, or osteoarthritis among other conditions.
<strong><em>02</em></strong> What’s the LIMIT difference?
Our philosophy is simple: slow and steady wins the race of lifelong injury free fitness. To be honest, you may not see drastic improvements in the first 6 weeks because we take a long-term approach. However, if you stick with consistent training, our method will dramatically improve your function and fitness levels. Our intelligent programming is based on over 30 years of scientific research from some of the worlds leading authorities on back pain and SMART training, so you can trust your health is safe in our hands.
<strong><em>03</em></strong> How challenging are the classes?
You will always feel like you’ve accomplished a great workout without feeling broken or wiped out. Each class begins with a non-negotiable warm-up before a series of strength and conditioning exercises. Like our title suggests, everything we do is low-impact, meaning it’s safe for those with joint issues, back pain, or other health concerns. There are opportunities to challenge yourself by increasing the weight lifted or intensity during our cardiovascular conditioning sets, or you can lower the weight and slow down when required.
<strong><em>04</em></strong> I’ve just had surgery. Can I attend LIMIT?
Yes! LIMIT classes are run by our Physios and Exercise Physiologists, who are well aware of the dos and don’ts of rehabilitation, and can modify the exercises to work around your injury. We will liaise with your treatment team to ensure all movements are in line with your stage of healing, so you can build general strength and improve wellbeing without compromising your recovery. Many post surgery clients get frustrated and upset about not being able to train, but LIMIT provides an opportunity to do so in a supervised environment.
<strong><em>05</em></strong> Are LIMIT classes personalised to my needs?
Before attending a LIMIT session, you will be thoroughly assessed by a physiotherapist to determine the best class type to suit your needs based on your current health, and goals. At each LIMIT class, your instructor may modify certain exercises to suit your capabilities and will always monitor your technique to ensure you’re engaging the correct muscles. Regular follow ups with a physiotherapist throughout your training will allow us to progress you within the class environment so you can continually improve your health and wellbeing.
<strong><em>06</em></strong> What are the different class types?
We have 3 main class types: LIMIT stability, LIMIT strength and LIMIT core. The descriptions of each are below, but your physiotherapist will guide you towards which classes are suitable during your initial assessment
LIMIT stability – lunchtime classes aimed to improve balance, general health, and strength in a supportive environment. You will experience an overall increase in fitness, reduce pain, and improve function by completing exercises tailored to your needs and goals. Suitable for all fitness levels and abilities.
LIMIT strength – build strength sensibly in these small group based classes that are suitable for those new to training, recovering from an injury, or those simply wanting a slower pace. Each class targets the major muscle groups and core strength, with small bursts of cardio conditioning for a well-rounded workout.
LIMIT core – if you’re looking for a strong core and good cardiovascular health, this class is for you. These classes are suitable for anyone; however, they are particularly beneficial for those with lower back pain, or ongoing injuries as there is a major focus on increasing strength of the muscles supporting the spine.
<strong><em>07</em></strong> Do I need to be injured to attend?
Not at all! The difference with LIMIT is that anyone can join. Our classes are filled with students, working professionals, mums, dads, athletes all the way through to our more senior citizens. The benefit of joining LIMIT is that each class is supervised by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, and covers all the bases of fitness including strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance and coordination.
<strong><em>08</em></strong> How much does each class cost?
You can attend a class at a drop in rate of $38 or purchase a 10-class pack where classes are $35 each. All classes are eligible for a rebate from your Private Health fund, making it an extremely cost effective way to train. Because of our small numbers you will get plenty of individualised coaching, so it’s more like a semi-private training session than a big group fitness class.
<strong><em>09</em></strong> How do I get started?
Before commencing with LIMIT, all clients will underdo a BeFit Training Physiotherapy assessment so we can understand your current health situation, provide measureable goals and track your progress. To book in click here.
